Bruxism

Bruxism is characterised by grinding your teeth, and generally occurs at night.

It is a uncontrolled functional disorder which causes grinding or clenching the teeth. It is part of the temporo-mandibular dysfunctions (TMD).

 

What are the symptoms of bruxism?

In general, they are pain occurring throughout the mouth region: jaws and cheek, and pain in the temples, but also advanced tooth wear.

 

What causes bruxism?

One of the main causes is stress.

Other factors remain like to promote the occurrence of this phenomenon:

Excessive alcohol and tobacco consumption

Endocrine disorders

Neurological disorders

Heredity

Tobacco

Excessive alcohol consumption
