Mounting implant

Implant surgery techniques are well established and extremely reliable and implant surgery is now a very common surgical procedure.

How does the surgery proceed?

Depending on the clinical case in question, fixed implants are either cemented or screwed to the implant abutment.

  • Mounting of the implant is usually carried out under local anaesthesia.
  • The gum is incised and opened to expose the bone site where the implant is to be inserted.
  • Drills of varying diameters are used successively to prepare the space.
  • The implant is then screwed in.

One or two-stage surgery

Mounting of an in implant in two-stage surgery:

  • Once mounted, the implant is covered and protected by the gum.
  • After two to four months of healing, the implant is exposed again in the course of a second surgical procedure and a titanium healing cap is attached to it, around which the gum heals.

Mounting of the implant in one-stage surgery:

  • At the end of mounting surgery, the titanium healing cap is screwed into the implant directly. No further surgery is needed to check the implant.
  • The one-stage surgery technique is not always possible and it is up to your dentist to make the decision.
  • Further surgery (bone graft) may be necessary if there is bone loss.
